A person that drinks heavily almost always develops some kind of tolerance and dependence on alcohol. The strong craving for alcoholic beverages is a sign that you may have a problem.

During the time of consumption, that dependent person experiences a range of emotions from pleasure to stress relief every time that individual consumes alcohol. The longer this person drinks, the higher tolerance they develop.

After a long enough period away from a drug you are addicted to, you will start to develop withdrawal symptoms. Alcohol withdrawal symptoms can appear even when you aren’t completely addicted, however. Ever had a bad hangover? Minor alcohol withdrawal symptoms combined with dehydration.

People with alcohol withdrawal symptoms usually suffer at least two out of the common 7 different alcohol withdrawal side effects. Changes are broad and can include any of the following: unexplained excessive sweating, a very high pulse, lack of sleep, upset stomach or vomiting, sporadic hallucinations, general state of agitation, restlessness, shaking, itching, or seizures.

As with any drug addict, an alcoholic will seek the drug if they have been denied it. They could possible expend any effort necessary to find and consume alcohol. He or she may then start to hoard it, drinking as much as they possibly can at the time while they still can.

Its like someone took away their food and they don’t know when the next time they will eat is so they “eat” as much as possible now. They might start doing new things to actively seek out alcohol, such as frequent bars during the day when they did not used to, or skipping out on social activities to stay home and drink. All of these things add up to one thing, searching out more alcohol.

Alcohol detoxification needs to happen for any alcoholic. This is the first phase of treatment for the above symptoms and condition of alcoholism. This process helps the individual to finally be free of alcohol’s call, but the person has to want it.

We all start out with our journey to seek the best high or buzz that we can imagine for that time in our lives. Some of us choose to use drugs and then there are those that have chosen some sort of alcohol.

We engage in partying with our friends, co-workers, and our spouses and some of us just alone. Some of us, the drug of choice just doesn’t sit right with us, so most of those people stay sober for the rest of their lives, do to either making them so sick or it just didn’t agree with their bodies at all from the very beginning.

These are the fortunate people that will never have to face the huge problem of addiction.

On the other hand, there are those people that the drug of choice they used didn’t bother them at all, and they really enjoyed the feeling they got from using. So they continue on their ride towards a future life of addiction but, they can’t see it coming.

Here is where some of us run into a huge problem. The problem is that we like the feeling we get when using and we do not have any control over ourselves to just do it in moderation or better yet, not at all.

[ReviewAZON asin="0306813246" display="inlinepost"]The more they abuse the drugs or alcohol the more tolerant their body gets and craves for more and more to get the high they once experienced in the very beginning of using.

Many people don’t know when they have had enough. The more they use the more they are hooked and the more they want.

So where do we draw the fine line between abuse vs. addiction? I feel that once you have reached that plateau of abusing and step over that fine line, is when you fall into addiction.

Our so called inner friends (our demons) have just taken over our bodies and minds and won’t let go.

These unfortunate people will now have the hardest job they have ever had in their lives to escape from their demons and surrender to their addictions.

Anyone can achieve this large task in their lives but you really have to want it so bad that you are willing to anything to get it done.

I have found that keeping a positive attitude towards your journey to sobriety is one of the most important steps to do first.

So, to sum it all up you first need to admit you have a addiction and want to make a change in your life for the better. You need to crave and want sobriety so bad that you are willing to do anything to achieve it, including possibly a Rehabilitation Center to get professional help.

But, always remember to keep that positive attitude in everything you do in life and you can achieve anything you wish including

Sobriety!

Many people throughout our world are in some way addicted to one thing or another. Some of us are addicted to drugs and then those that are addicted to alcohol or both.

As we all know, both of these addictions are very serious and must be confronted with in a timely fashion before they really get out of hand. When we start abusing these substances on a daily basis it them becomes a big problem, and the problem is now being addicted to them.

Once starting as a good old time partying and living high or buzzed on life leads to a unfortunate addiction which is now so hard to get out of, do to our demons taken over our bodies and our lives.I was in the same situation once in my life and I can honestly say that Being Addicted to Drugs And Alcohol Is Like Knockin on Heavens Door!

We the addicts always think about giving up alcohol and drugs but we just don’t have the willpower or the strength to call it quits and surrender.

We don’t even realize that we are effecting other people in our lives by being addicted.

We want deep down inside to quit drinking alcohol and start a new life but, we don’t know where to begin to start to change our lives for the better.

Some of us are embarrassed to ask for help because we don’t want certain people in our lives to know just how addicted we really are. So, we keep quite and just continue on destroying our lives and feeding our demons more fuel so that they may survive.

If someone has an addiction of any kind, you should really take time to look up into the heavens and say to yourself, “do I really want to be up there earlier then God wants me to?”

Think about it, and I am sure your answer will be Heck NO!

If that’s your answer then good for you because you have just taken a step in a positive direction and now the next step is to conquer and surrender to your demons.

Start off first and foremost with a Positive Attitude because without that you will indeed have a difficult time in your journey to Sobriety and your road to recovery.

If you really want something bad enough in life you first have to want it and work hard for it, because it’s not going to just fall into your lap without and effort on your part.

So, go for it, and think positive and you will stay here on earth for a lot more years to come and sober at that.

Many alcoholics struggle with the fight to overcome their addiction to alcohol. One of the biggest keys to do so in early recovery is the concept of massive action. Most people in recovery seriously underestimate how much effort it is going to take at first in order to stay sober.

The fact is that in order to stop drinking alcohol, a huge disruption has to occur. The tendency of the alcoholic is to continue to self medicate with alcohol. Their tendency is to sabotage their sobriety and revert back to what they know best: getting drunk. Every alcoholic is more comfortable when they are drinking than when they are sober. Really think about this for a moment. The natural state of an alcoholic is to be drunk. This is what they are most used to. It is as natural as breathing for them.

So the amount of change necessary to overcome such drinking problems is tremendous. Most people expect to have to make minor changes in their lives, and simply shift a few things around and maybe hit a meeting or two each week. This is not going to cut it. That level of dedication and change is not going to produce meaningful sobriety. What needs to happen instead is that the alcoholic must dedicate their life to changing in recovery.

Massive action is the key to early recovery, but holistic growth is the key to long term sobriety. Why is this? Because in order to overcome complacency, the alcoholic has to keep growing continuously as a person in their journey. If they do not, then they will tend to stagnate, and run the risk of relapsing.

Holistic growth just means that the person is open to personal growth in many different areas of their life. Of course the key to pursuing such growth and doing well with it involves taking massive action as well.

Making the decision to enter into drug addiction recovery is one of the best decisions a person who is addicted to drugs can ever make.

Drug addiction can destroy a person’s life and the lives of the people around them. Before a person enters a drug treatment center there are certain things that they should do to prepare for their stay. An inpatient drug rehab program will usually last for about a month.

Let’s take a look at the things that need to be taken care of during the month a person is planning to receive drug addiction treatment.

What To Do Before Entering Drug Addiction Recovery

One of the things that will need to be done prior to going into drug addiction recovery is making sure that the bills will remain paid while the person is in treatment.

It is very important to have a life to come back to when a person completes a drug rehab program, so it is imperative that the bills that are due get paid on time.

Some people miss this step when they go to drug rehab centers and when they come out of treatment find that their lights have been cut off and their landlord has put their belongings on the curb.

Make A List Of Allowed Items Before Entering Treatment

Another thing that will need to be done prior to a person showing up at a drug treatment center is a list of items that are allowed needs to be prepared.

The patient will know what can, and cannot be, taken in their personal belongings. Most drug rehab programs will not provide patients with things such as clothes or special amenities. Some do keep emergency toiletries on hand in case someone forgets a toothbrush or bar of soap, but it will usually be up to the person receiving treatment to bring everything they will need for their entire stay.

Since items that are allowed into the drug rehab centers vary it is best to call ahead for what is permitted and what is not.

Be Sure To Keep An Eye On The Patient’s House

Drug addicts do not usually have the most trustworthy friends. It is important to have someone who can be trusted watch over the patient’s house and personal belongings while they are in treatment.

As previously mentioned, the drug addiction treatment will last for about a month, and nobody wants to leave their house and other personal possessions unattended for that long of a period of time.

Make a List of Things to Do Before Entering Drug Addiction Recovery

It may be necessary for a person to make out a list to follow to insure that everything that needs to be done is done.

If a list is not made then something important may be overlooked and a person may come out of drug addiction recovery with a whole list of problems.

Obviously, this is not healthy.

So, assist the patient by making a list of everything that needs to be done in preparation for the treatment as well as while the patient is away. This will ensure that, when the patient returns home, there will be little or no chance of a unwanted stress caused by an unfortunate incident.

Most importantly, it will also prevent the patient from making yet another excuse as to why he or she must delay drug addiction treatment once again.
