There are famous words of inspiration that can be used to help you change your life and improve your confidence. Most of us at some point or another have negative thoughts that can restrict and limit our potential. If you wish to know how to cure depression then here are a few pointers.

First off one of the best things to do is find some famous words of inspiration to use on a daily basis to help yourself overcome your limiting and negative beliefs. Much of depression is rooted in the beliefs that you have. These deep rooted beliefs are causing thoughts that are negative. These thoughts then generate feelings that cause us to be unable to act, think, or feel positive.

Words Of Inspiration

It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.
-Theodore Roosevelt

I failed my way to success.
-Thomas Edison

Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft mid win, by fearing to attempt.
-William Shakespeare

Every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent success.
-Napoleon Hill

When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.
-Helen Keller

What I found with myself is that depression was caused because I truly didn’t accept or believe in myself. I was thinking more about what I had been taught or told in church, by parents, from school, friends, etc., for who I am or what I should do.

It took several years of personal growth and self help to recognize this and clear it out. The more I accepted myself the way I am, the better I felt.

One of my favorite words of inspiration is: You are good enough as you are. I got this out of a book called You Can Heal Your Life. This is one book that helped me learn how to cure depression.

If you wish to live a better life and have more love, joy, and peace then take action today. Get a book, read more about depression help online, seek support from positive people.

The pain of depression cannot always be seen. In fact when a person is depressed, they can hide it so well that sometimes no one, not even their closest companion realizes that they are depressed.

When depression hurts , it can get really bad. It can extend to so many other people, and affect their lives forever. Take for instance, a very common story today. Let’s call him Bill.

Bill was a highly successful man. He has a good career, financially stable, owned his own house and car, and had a beautiful girlfriend. Life was amazing for him until the girl left him. For whatever reasons for the break-up, Bill felt broken. Depression hurts, and in Bill’s case, it led to him committing suicide soon after. This is not as extreme as it is common. So many people have found it hard to deal with depression. They got lost in their own confusion, and could not find a way out.

Instead of judging people who get depressed, we should try to help them by recognizing the signs of depression. If we catch it early, we can prevent major disaster from happening, and the stories like that of Bill will decrease and happen less often.

Signs Of Depression

Look for signs of sleeping disorder, changes in the eating patterns from overeating all of a sudden to not eating at all. Other signs are excessive drinking, partying, fatigue, a distracted mind, inability to focus and concentrate, contrived laughter, fake smile, and no interest in anything, including those things they used to love doing. It may not be depression, but it is a change that is not positive, so talking about it may help reverse the process. Depression does not start as depression. It can just be sadness that grew out of proportion. This being so, knowing the signs can changes lives – but for the better.

Types of Depression

When you hear one of your friends claim that he or she is depressed, don’t scoff at it. Rather, hear out the story and prepare a string of good words, to pacify the surge of emotions. The deed may be tiresome, but for all you know, you might be saving someone’s sanity by providing the right form of validation, otherwise your buddy might fall under the different types of depression. Mind you, they are anything but pleasant.

Dysthymia

Dysthymia is the inclination towards a negative outlook, prompted by dissatisfaction or a chain of bad events. It gradually controls one’s reactions, making the afflicted question things seem to be too good to be true, of course in a rather irrational way. A trip to the psychiatrist is still not necessary at this stage. It can be cured by the show of support by friends and loved ones, provided that they are not jaded.

Unipolar Depression

Upon entering this stage of depression, things can only get worse, unless the individual develops the longing for positive reinforcement, which is anything but easy. The longer the person engages heavy emotional episodes; his or her inclination towards depression grows stronger. Eventually, the emotional state will overpower rational thoughts and positive reactions, leaving only anxiety and even more depression as the channels.

Manic Depressiveness

Any form of dependency is not healthy, and in the case of depression, it could be deadly. Manic depression entraps its victims in a shell of negative reaction, leaving everything else outside. Gradually, the thoughts and reactions grow more drastic, until it leads to psychotic depression – a state wherein a person is controlled only heavy depression, which is a precursor to suicide or murder and a handful of diseases.

One can start dealing with depression of this kind by taking a manic depression test. Professional help is the only recourse at this point, since a change not only in lifestyle, but also in one’s set of personal beliefs is necessary.

Many alcoholics struggle with the fight to overcome their addiction to alcohol. One of the biggest keys to do so in early recovery is the concept of massive action. Most people in recovery seriously underestimate how much effort it is going to take at first in order to stay sober.

The fact is that in order to stop drinking alcohol, a huge disruption has to occur. The tendency of the alcoholic is to continue to self medicate with alcohol. Their tendency is to sabotage their sobriety and revert back to what they know best: getting drunk. Every alcoholic is more comfortable when they are drinking than when they are sober. Really think about this for a moment. The natural state of an alcoholic is to be drunk. This is what they are most used to. It is as natural as breathing for them.

So the amount of change necessary to overcome such drinking problems is tremendous. Most people expect to have to make minor changes in their lives, and simply shift a few things around and maybe hit a meeting or two each week. This is not going to cut it. That level of dedication and change is not going to produce meaningful sobriety. What needs to happen instead is that the alcoholic must dedicate their life to changing in recovery.

Massive action is the key to early recovery, but holistic growth is the key to long term sobriety. Why is this? Because in order to overcome complacency, the alcoholic has to keep growing continuously as a person in their journey. If they do not, then they will tend to stagnate, and run the risk of relapsing.

Holistic growth just means that the person is open to personal growth in many different areas of their life. Of course the key to pursuing such growth and doing well with it involves taking massive action as well.

Bi polar disorder patients often suffer from suicidal thoughts, troubled relationships or trouble in the workplace.

This psychiatric illness causes uncontrollable mood swings and much emotional pain.

If left untreated, this disease could lead to hospitalization. This article will discuss the definition of bi polar disorder, bi polar disorder symptoms, and some treatments that are available.

Symptoms Of Bipolar Disorder

A person who suffers from bipolar disorder can have severe mood swings–ranging from severe depression to severe mania.

Severe depression is characterized by feelings of hopelessness or suicidal thoughts, while severe mania could include insomnia, intense anxiety or impulsive behavior. Between these extremes are moderate depression, mild depression, a feeling of normalcy, and increased levels of energy known as hypomania.

More than one of these symptoms can be experienced at the same time, referred to as a mixed state.

Types Of Bi Polar Disorder

According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), there are four types of bi polar disorder. Manic or mixed behavior, or depression lasting more than two weeks. Bounces back and forth with hypomanic episodes.

The person’s symptoms do not fit the other categories, but clearly does not exhibit normal behavior.

Bi polar disorder in its mildest form. A person usually bounces back and forth between mild depression and hypomania for at least several years.

What Causes Bi Polar Disorder?

There is no clear-cut cause for bi polar disorder.

The theories are too many to mention; however, scientists feel that identifying the problem begins with the brain.

Brain Chemistry. Fluctuating levels of neurotransmitters–such as norepinephrine, serotonin and dopamine–may be contributing factors for the bipolar patient. For example, low norepinephrine levels can create depression and high levels can create mania. Genetics, stress, and traumatic life experiences can also cause a person to exhibit bipolar symptoms.

Stresses Of Daily Living. Daily life can bring ups and downs for any person. However, ups and downs are extreme for bi polar patients. A physician may have difficulty diagnosing bi polar disorder because its symptoms may mimic other conditions, such as drug abuse or other physical ailments. People who exhibit intermittent levels of acute energy, extreme irritability, or have high-risk, compulsive habits show signs of being bipolar.

Managing Bi Polar Disorder With Treatment

For many people, the symptoms of bi polar disorder do not completely go away with treatment.

However, it can be controlled with medication, or a combination of medicines. Antidepressants, antipsychotic drugs, mood stabilizers, or electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) may be used to treat this disease.

Counseling is also an effective tool in the bi polar treatment plan.

Help Is Available For Bi Polar Disorder

In the past, bi polar patients were labeled manic depressive.

This reference is sometimes used today. By either definition, bi polar disorder is a psychiatric illness that can ultimately wreak havoc on a person’s life.

Under a doctor’s care, bi polar disorder can be controlled, but not cured. Always discuss any symptoms and care with a physician before beginning any medicines.

All of us feel down and discouraged from time to time.

The stress of coping with the difficulties and setbacks we all face in life can be discouraging. But how do we know if we, or someone that we know, have moved beyond mere discouragement toward clinical depression?

There are some keys signs and symptoms of depression that will help us determine where we are emotionally and if we need depression treatment.

Symptoms of Clinical Depression

The symptoms of depression are fairly standardized and include:

Fatigue and decreased energy

Feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, loneliness, and helplessness

Insomnia (difficulty sleeping), early morning awakening

Excessive sleeping

Difficulty concentrating or remembering details

Irritability

Severe changes in appetite- overeating or loss of appetite

Persistent feelings of sadness, and emptiness

Loss of interest in activities once enjoyed

Thoughts of harming yourself or suicidal thoughts

Diagnosing Clinical Depression

Merely having some of the symptoms of major depression for a brief period of time is not enough to warrant a clinical diagnosis of major depression. These symptoms experienced over a prolonged period of time and which interfere with leading a normal, active life are reliable indicators that a person may be clinically depressed and in need of depression treatment.

Researchers vary in their estimations of the commonality of major depression with some studies relating that 30 % (or 1 in 3) Americans will experience major depression while other studies put the depression rates somewhere around 50 % of the US adult population.

If you or someone you know does exhibit these symptoms over a long periods of time- it is time to get some help.

Diagnosing clinical depression is best left to medical and mental health professionals- but all of us should know (from a layman’s perspective) the signs and symptoms of depression. This is especially important when someone is feeling suicidal. Research reflects that approximately 1 in 10 people who are clinically depressed go on to commit suicide (this is a conservative estimate).

If you or someone you know is suicidal do not hesitate to call 1-800-SUICIDE or 1-800-273-TALK. Getting people who are suffering from major depression the help they need is of paramount importance.

The good news is- help is available.

Get Depression Treatment Early

Because one of the key complications stemming from depression is a lack of motivation, sometimes a depressed person needs someone to reach out with compassion and help that person get in touch with the right people- this may be a family physician, a psychiatrist, or a mental health professional.

These professionals have specialized training in diagnosing and treating not only the symptoms of depression but its underlying causes. Often certain medications can be prescribed to stabilize one’s mood while the person participates in therapeutic counseling to deal with the root issues that provoked the depressive episode in the first place.

If the symptoms of depression are negatively impacting your life, your relationships, your work or your family- then seek help at once.

Treating depression early can prevent things from getting worse.

Remember, feeling depressed does not mean you have a major depressive disorder. However, if you can’t pull yourself out of your symptoms don’t suffer in silence, talk to your physician or a mental health provider and get the help you need to enjoy an active, normal life.
