It can be the most challenging thing you have ever done – but also the most rewarding.
Becoming a life coach means advising another person, ensuring that they meet whatever goals they are working towards and perhaps helping them to overcome negative thoughts and obstacles, both real and perceived.A life coach can advise on several different matters, most of which many of us have some experience of. Life coaching is not therapy; rather it is helping someone to meet their goals, goals which they already have.
Typically, a life coach might advise on such things as being organized, finding a balance between life and work, losing weight, or simply enjoying life more.
Many people find it difficult to cope with a major transition in their life, such as divorce, marriage or relocating. A life coach can advise on the process and what to expect from it; of course it also helps if the coach has experienced the same change themselves at some point.
Many life coaches choose to specialize in a particular area, such as weight loss, careers or relationships.

If you are the person that friends and family routinely turn to for advice, you may find that you would make an effective life coach.
So how do you become a life coach? There are several different types of certification available; you should also check with your state to see what specific requirements are needed.
A college degree in psychology, sociology or a related field isn’t required, but is certainly a help. And of course, you will need to be a combination of counselor, friend and adviser.
