I just read this article over at GriefDoctor.com.  It is entitled:

Grief Depression:  Coping With The Stages Of Grief

It is an exhaustive look at the similarities and differences between grief related depression and chronic clinical depression.

Grief related depression can devolve into clinical depression if the survivor is unable to move through the states of grief in an orderly fashion.
