Learning A New Language On A Time Table

Posted on | February 24, 2011 | No Comments

If you want to increase your ability to communicate with others, while increasing the function of your brain, try learning a new language. This goal is a very fulfilling one, with many benefits.  However, many people feel they are too busy to attempt this endeavor, so they never even try. If you are careful with your time, there are many things that you can do to help yourself fit in some time for learning as well.

First, you will need to try to listen to the language as often as you can. This could be through tapes or CDs on your commute to and from work, or while you are relaxing in the bathtub at the end of the day.  The more you hear it, the more familiar the sounds will become to you, and you can get a feel for what the rhythm is like. It does not matter that you will not be able to understand it quite yet.

You can try to pick up a word here and then, and begin to memorize some vocabulary. As you learn to piece them together, you will able to understand some basic communication concepts.  Learning whole phrases will come gradually, but you will get it. You will love the feeling of accomplishment that follows.  The more you hear the language spoken, the more you will be able to pick up and develop the accent. You will need to practice your pronunciation quite a bit.

This is a common practice when learning any language—for example, ESL Las Vegas helps foreigners learn English.  Their accents need to be developed as well.  You will find that the pronunciation and accent is quite different from your own language. This is completely natural, and you will just need to learn the subtleties before you become an expert.

You need to cultivate a real desire to speak correctly, and dedicate your mind and ears to picking up the correct way to pronounce things. After all, it is a whole new set of rules.  You may not have a lot of time to sit down and work on learning the vocabulary words. However, remind yourself that it is not a sprint, it is a marathon.

Just make sure that you have the motivation to begin, and to keep going. It would be a shame to begin the process, only to give up down the road.  You will also need to learn to participate in some of the activities that relate to the particular country you are studying. If you are learning how to speak French, taking a French cooking class could be lots of fun, and great practice at the same time.

If you are interested in learning Spanish, try learning Latin dance, or attending a show with Spanish dancers it in. You will learn more words as you spend time participating in the activities which are natural to them.  Another idea is to help others learn English.  ESL Las Vegas is a great way for native English speakers to help non-native speakers learn English.

You may even want to keep some flash cards in your pockets to use while you have small breaks of time. Standing waiting for the bus is a great time to review some words, or even if you are sitting in the back seat of a carpool to and from work.  There are many different kinds of flash cards that you can find. Retail bookstores even carry them, and they are generally not very expensive.

Even spending one minute at a time can help you learn a new word. You may be surprised how many single minutes in the day you can find to practice.  You could even try learning whole phrases instead of one word at a time. For some, this is an easier and faster way to learn.

When you learn new sentences, try using them throughout the day, either out loud or in your head. You can even try typing them while you are at work when you have a few minutes.  Sometimes seeing the words on a page can make them easier to remember as well. You can also see the connections between them to other vocabulary as well, that you may not have noticed just by listening to them.

If you can, you could try watching movies or TV shows that are spoken in the dialect you are learning. This could help you get a feel for how it is spoken in a more natural context.  However you choose to learn it up to you, but do not use the excuse of not having enough time. If you put your mind to it, you can do it.

Famous Words Of Inspiration Can Help You Learn How To Cure Depression

Posted on | February 21, 2011 | No Comments

There are famous words of inspiration that can be used to help you change your life and improve your confidence. Most of us at some point or another have negative thoughts that can restrict and limit our potential. If you wish to know how to cure depression then here are a few pointers.

First off one of the best things to do is find some famous words of inspiration to use on a daily basis to help yourself overcome your limiting and negative beliefs. Much of depression is rooted in the beliefs that you have. These deep rooted beliefs are causing thoughts that are negative. These thoughts then generate feelings that cause us to be unable to act, think, or feel positive.

Words Of Inspiration

It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.
-Theodore Roosevelt

I failed my way to success.
-Thomas Edison

Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft mid win, by fearing to attempt.
-William Shakespeare

Every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent success.
-Napoleon Hill

When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.
-Helen Keller

What I found with myself is that depression was caused because I truly didn’t accept or believe in myself. I was thinking more about what I had been taught or told in church, by parents, from school, friends, etc., for who I am or what I should do.

It took several years of personal growth and self help to recognize this and clear it out. The more I accepted myself the way I am, the better I felt.

One of my favorite words of inspiration is: You are good enough as you are. I got this out of a book called You Can Heal Your Life. This is one book that helped me learn how to cure depression.

If you wish to live a better life and have more love, joy, and peace then take action today. Get a book, read more about depression help online, seek support from positive people.
