PICKING YOUR TEACHER FOR LIFE’S LESSONS

There’s only one difference between ‘try’ and triumph’ and that’s a little ‘umph’…. how true is that!
Sometimes, inspirational quotes get people really thinking about their life’s direction and where they want to be. But as we all well know, there’s a yawning gap between wanting to do something and actually doing it. All too often, good intentions fall by the wayside and before we know it, we’re back in the same old rut.
And that may be behind the rapid and extensive growth of the life coaching industry. People are generally not able to master their own destinies and often, a little help from an experienced ‘life’ professional is needed to turn theory into reality. Coaches are trained and skilled in working with individuals, groups of people and organisations to convert theory into reality, challenges into opportunities. Just as sports players need a coach to improve and refine their game, coaches can help people be better at …. well, life.
Are you having problems losing weight or making a career change?. Maybe you want help firing up your sales team to reach their targets – or maybe you need assistance to work up the courage to fire your sales manager. Or it is help needed with sorting out your management team’s work/life balance challenges and interpersonal relationships?. It may be assistance in facing up to business opportunities. Or perhaps it is more about personal challenges and learning to be better at your own life.
Most of us want to be better, but we’re not always able to cope on our own. Joining forces with a life coach or an executive coach will give individuals, groups and organisations the motivation to move forward and truly achieve – despite life’s obstacles.
But not everyone is at ease with the idea of letting a relative stranger into their lives. Some people may feel vulnerable and exposed. But a Western Australia life coaching industry professional, Derek Haayema, says it’s imperative that people acknowledge their weaknesses in order to excel.
His comments stem from years spent working with top sports teams, organisations as well as individuals to achieve success. He says that working with a coach helps people assess their goals, identify and tackle obstacles with focus resolve and commitment and gain the power and motivation to move forward and truly achieve.
And it’s not a strategy that’s exclusive to adults either. Even scholars can benefit from joining forces with a coach to help them overcome challenges and motivational issues at school.
The following outcomes apply to all the various coaching interventions, including career coaching, Perth corporate coaching, sales coaching, customer service coaching and corporate team alignment :
· Goal setting
· Ability to square up to obstacles with focus and commitment
· Learn to prepare for challenges
· Set visions and targets within realistic time schedules
· Learn to identify strengths and weaknesses and what resources are available
· Enhanced performance and focus
· Improved networking skills
· Identify positive opportunities
· Personal and professional development
Experience is a tough teacher – first you get the test and only then do you get the lesson. Now doesn’t it make sense to tap into the lessons from a life coach so that we can learn from their experience?.
